Understand British culture from a local’s perspective
Do you speak a bit of English, but still find it hard to connect with local people? Do you struggle to find common ground, or feel confused by things that seem obvious to others? We’re here to help you build a solid cultural foundation in just one year, so you can make connections more easily in the UK.
With over four years of teaching experience, we've picked 52 essential topics that will give you a deeper understanding of daily life here. Using a semester-based system inspired by Oxford University, you’ll learn efficiently and in a way that helps these ideas become part of your everyday experience. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to break down barriers—whether you're at work, university, or just living your day-to-day life.

Throughout the one-year course, you'll receive a 5-10 minute learning video recorded by Susie every week, offering a comprehensive introduction to British culture. For some topics, bonus videos are included to expand on the content.
You can watch the videos as many times as you like and have lifetime access, allowing you to study at your own pace and easily review whenever needed.
In the first year of the course, the "Video Self-Learning Program" will serve as the core focus, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of British culture and apply the knowledge more flexibly.
Each class is limited to a maximum of three students*, ensuring plenty of speaking opportunities and practice time.
*The three-person small class format is inspired by Susie’s studies at Oxford University and years of teaching experience. Susie found that small groups of three offer the perfect balance—more engaging than one-on-one lessons, encouraging richer discussions, and guaranteeing that every student gets ample speaking practice.
Suitable for learners of all English levels who prefer to schedule their own study time and don’t require speaking practice.
Perfect for learners with intermediate or advanced English who want to improve their speaking skills and enhance their learning through discussions.
📌 Not sure about your English level? ➤ Take the test now! If you score between 40%–79%, join the Intermediate Class; if you score 80% or higher, join the Advanced Class.
📌 Small group classes offer flexible schedules (mostly between 9 AM and 7 PM UK time). Once you’ve found a teacher or time slot you like, it’s best to stick to it for consistency with your teacher and classmates. If you can’t attend a class, please remember to cancel your booking to free up the spot for others.
📌 After your first year, the system will automatically renew for a second year, giving you the chance to explore even more exciting topics! At that point, you’ll officially become a Susie Woo-er!

-
If you buy the videos only, there is no subscription.
If you subscribe to the Group Tutorials, you will not be able to access the lessons if you cancel your subscription, so you may need to time the cancellation of your subscription for after you have had all the lessons you want to do.
-
Yes, we’ll go on to do Year 2! After graduating Year 1 (end of March next year), you will move beyond Susie's videos to hand-selected videos from the real world, to expand your knowledge and understanding of different types of English in different contexts.
Graduates of the foundational year will automatically continue on to the Second year, unless their subscription is cancelled. -
You will receive access to the Year 1 videos, so you can catch up previous content at any time in that way (classes cannot be caught up on, as they will have already happened). If you would like to start with Topic 1 for the (teacher-led) lessons, you could wait till March next year to join the new cohort. All new students will start from Year 1 and move into Year 2.

The difference between the Travel course and the Culture course is that the Culture course is for more in-depth understanding of different aspects of life (culture), mostly to facilitate relationships and interactions, whereas the Travel course is specifically for travellers, people studying abroad, or people who struggle with English in the day-to-day things - it has a more practical focus, with some foundational cultural aspects, but not as conversational, educational or in-depth as the culture course.
-
Class bookings are flexible, but if you miss the week of a particular topic, the videos and class materials will be there for you to review.
-
No, to reduce privacy concerns, classes will not be recorded.
-
